Who am I?
As a self-taught photographer, I started like almost everyone else to take pictures of everything, everyone, to experiment. I quickly discovered that what I liked the most was to take pictures of abandoned places. This activity allows my very curious, creative side and my passion for decoration to meet. And it is also where I feel best.
Our current society is too demanding, too fast and too stimulating for me, I don't really find my place there. These places where no one lives anymore and where time has stopped are pleasant for me. What I see there is beautiful. They are filled with memories of people who were probably happy at one time and that is mainly what I want to bring out through my photos.
In addition to photography, I started to research the places I visit like a detective. Today I consider that all my work is a safeguard of decorative trends that will disappear, of buildings that will be destroyed, of people who may no longer be remembered. My attraction to series and cinema inspires me for more specific photographic projects. Landscapes and travel also attract me more and more.
These photographic subjects echo a lot with this quote: "Photography is a fragment of time that will not return" (by Martine Franck). Because these abandoned places will never see their owners again, because sunsets are ephemeral but published digital files can survive. This is where Flashback.exe comes from.
Note:
I am part of a collective of photographers called "Les Photographes du passé" with which I participate in the development of original exhibitions on the theme of urban exploration. Find us on photographesdupasse.com
